Apr 06, 2025 - FASSelangor FC managed to secure three points after defeating Terengganu FC in the final minutes of the 2024/25 Super League match yesterday.
The match was equally 'slick', the previous Red Giants squad made attempts in the first ten minutes especially from Ronnie Fernandez, Faisal Halim and Alvin Fortes. However, in the 40th minute, Safawi Rasid gave a thrill in the first half with his attempt that almost penetrated the goal but hit the post. The second half remained with back to back attacks from both teams. In the 87th minute, Faisal Halim made a pass into the box to Alvin Fortes, then Fortes dribbled the ball forward and shot the only goal of the #SFCTER match with his left foot that passed Rahadiazli Rahalim. The #SFCTER match ended with a result of 1-0 at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya yesterday.
According to Selangor FC head coach, Katsuhito Kinoshi, he was satisfied with the mentality shown by the players to get the victory.
"These are 3 very important points for us. The players fought as a team, even though there were some players who did not get many minutes of play, they understood their respective roles, implemented tactics well, made important blocks, and kept the clean sheet record. In addition, the players also made many runs, proving their hard work. I am proud to witness football like this, and I am satisfied with the performance shown by the players. Since losing to Kuching City the other day, we have undergone very good training, which led to this victory, proving their mentality is at a good level. They showed good cooperation as a team,” Kinoshi was proud.
From the #SFCTER match in the penultimate match of the 2024/25 Super League yesterday, several important things can be seen, such as:-
Captain and Man of The Match; Faisal Halim
Faisal Halim has been working hard to regain his playing style, he is clearly getting closer to it. He managed to make several attempts and good passes. Yesterday he appeared as the team captain in the #SFCTER match yesterday to replace Safuwan Baharudin who suffered a hamstring injury. Kinoshi shared why Faisal was chosen as captain, "I trusted Mickey (Faisal) to be the captain because of his mentality. In the match, both his legs were cramping, but when I asked him if he could run, his answer was 'I want to run'. This kind of mentality is what makes him a good leader."
Alvin Fortes continue scoring
Fortes is among the 2024/25 import players who have managed to make his name be mentioned among the fans. His advantages in dribbling the ball, controlling the ball, fast running and his sharpness in front of the goal have added to the strength of the Red Giants squad in this season. So far, he has scored 19 goals including the only goal of the #SFCTER match yesterday. Fortes' entry in the 30th minute yesterday has made the Faisal-Fortes partnership the talk of the town. The two of them help each other in making attacking moves in front of the Sang Penyu goal.
However, praise must be given to all the players including the goalkeeper, defenders, midfielders and strikers. The Head Coach of Selangor FC stated that this victory was due to their cooperation on the field.
Next, Selangor FC's final match in the 2024/25 Super League will take place on 19 April against PDRM FC at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya, at 8:15 pm.
The management of Selangor FC would like to express their gratitude to the 2,453 supporters who coloured the MBPJ Stadium with their respective raya outfits.
Demi Kebanggaan!
